The Last of Us -- the mysterious and teased new PS3 exclusive -- has been officially revealed at the Spider TV Video Game Awards.
Uncharted developer Naughty Dog is looking after the game, which appears to be a modern-day survival horror game set years after the downfall of society.
"Abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. A population decimated by a modern plague. Survivors are killing each other for food, weapons; whatever they can get their hands on.
Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US."
So what do MMGN members think?
J053pH: Unless they bring in something brand new to the genre, then I don't think it'll do much, ending up just another zombie killing game, just like the rest of them.
NinjaBoy: Visually this looks amazing. The vista moment at the start was well done, nice peaceful look enviroment to a blood soaked carpet. Though this doesn't feel like a Survival Horror to me it seems more like and an adventure horror game: this being that just by the title and the surronding enviroments its a 2012 style game, so all in all that makes me feel like it is more of an adventure because you would want to go and see all the places around you "adventure" out into the wilderness of this post-apocoliyptic world. I am interested in seeing how this game turns out.
Kenni: Can't see any kind of romance between the two protagonists. The setting it seem to take place is a bit too grim, the goal of trying to survive is always on the mind. Plus, I like to think they're just survivors. No relations to each other at all.
I also hope this isn't another zombie-apocalypse kind of a game. Mutants seem more fitting and I feel like that hasn't been explored much.
Dicky: "Reasons not to get excited": Another on the rails cinematic experience, Yet another zombie game, That trailer shows nothing bar that it will probably be a cutscene riddled cinematic experience. And i have to ask, is this the developers idea to cover up the PS3s hardware issues? make lots of nice looking on rail cinematic experiences? lame.
Tsunamo: Looking good! The guys character model reminds me of a Drakes alot though, no suprise there seeing as how it's developed by Naughty Dog.
Inky: Naughty Dog = MUST BUY. All the games they produce are of the best quality from Crash Bandicoot to Uncharted.
Seanybruz: Is it just me or does anyone else think those cutscenes look even better graphically than the Uncharted games if that was possible?
Two things I'm keen to find out is if climbing is still present judging by the environment & apparent swarms of insects/enemies it's highly likely.
Also wonder if coop is on the cards with the little girl or possibly other survivors?
PS3K: I want it to feel like an actual survival game, where you search for food, find shelter, ammo is hard to come by so you need to save your ammo, health system like Far Cry 2 etc. That may be getting too technical but, they say that this game is all about surviving. I want to feel like I'm helpless!
