Call Of Duty: A Graphical Evolution 2005-2012

In case you didn't know, yet another Call Of Duty is set for release on November 13. It will have been the eighth (count it: EIGHTH!) Call Of Duty game released since 2005's Call Of Duty 2 on Xbox 360, and it's clear that the series has gone through quite a few changes since that release.

How has the series evolved on the presentation front throughout the generation? It's gone from World War 2, to modern battlefields, the Cold War, and soon a future setting. How have the different eras affected how each game looks?

what i've learned from this is.. i miss PPSH and Trench Gun :'(
can you notice the graphics difference? oh wait it's just the lighting :P TBH I actually missed the earlier COD the WWII era, but that's been overkilled now, be hard to have a WWII based game.

It's got more of a shiny look now :P I think there is more detail, smoother, more refined, tweaked. Is that a bad thing? Better understanding of the hardware = improved software.

But I do miss the WW2-era games. Funny how in 2007 we were saying how sick of them we were. World At War went back to WW2 and we all complained...

Now, I'd love to see a WW2 game that focused on Nazi Germany (controlling the Allies, of course).

And with Treyarch's "Zombies" success, I don't see why a WW2 game couldn't have it in the campaign.

OMG...

Call Of Duty: Nazi Zombies

GET. IT. DONE.
I still believe graphically blops was a downgrade from MW2, it really disappointed me on the launch night after getting home and putting it in to see a step down, all I was really hoping for a was a slight improvement, but no defiantly not, well not on the ps3 anyway (haven't played it on pc or xbox360).

In the end though I think blops was the better game. Can't wait for number 2 :)
Call of Duty: Nazi Zombies.. it'd sell very well i imagine! not that i'd buy it, i don't really 'get' zombies

black ops campaign graphics are better than mw2 - the mp graphics i dont care about tbh, blops is much better imo. i'll take poorer graphics and better game everytime. point is, hopefully BO2 is the best of both worlds!

Yeah probably should have clarified, campaign for blops and MW3 for me are both 0% lol.

I just assumed the GFX would have been the same over the whole game, but yes I have the same aspirations for blops 2! :D
It's like watching your kids grow up over the years :'( :P
how its changed over the years

Agree with you on both points.

Maybe if your child is Peter Pan. [Shifty]
They upped the saturation slightly in photoshop?
Same shi* different smell :P
definitely gotten more colourful with the move from the dullness/grittyness that is world war. No one believed in colour in those days.

all I see is change in contrast and more lighting lol. Unbelievable how they have been getting away with this for so long, same exact gameplay, same mechanics, same animations, same gun sounds, same physics, same spawning, but you do get "NEW" maps!!
Soo... When does the change come? Oh yeah right, it's just one game, right?
