I thought we could have a universal thread on all things concerning HDTV's, from plasmas to lcds. Ask questions, offer advice, announce up coming TV's all in one place. Please don't troll though and maybe back up your info with some links or pics.

Also post what TV you use and for what, if someone else owns the same TV you might be able to help them with whatever enquires.

My current TV is a Panasonic GT30, will post a pic soon.

I got a sonia bravia and ps3 for $900 a few months back. Was for the rents room now they got another tv so i get the bravia [MOG]

Anyone with a Samsung plasma updated firmware to 3009... I have heard that the cross talk problems have been fixed. Just wondering is it time to move on from 1014.

I got a Samsung LCD in December 2008 and another one in January 2010 and I've never updated the firmware in either of them, should I, what differences will there be?

Yeah ok, asking because the upgrade is meant to make the picture quality of Blu Ray better plus the added Bigpond Channels... But if it makes the 3d worse then I will just have to live without it. I thought it might be a major update because Samsung seem to be pushing it harder then any of the other ones with a notice every 24 hours.

Never thought we'd ever have to usdate the firmware on a TV, just shows they are getting more complex.

Soon you wont even need a computer just a high end TV and keyboard,

It didn't change the 3D at all and bluray dodn't look any different fro the upgrade, I have an LCD but it still got the same update

Yeah the improvements were needed for the Plasmas because they we the only affected by the updates. So you will not notice much difference with the LCD

OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode.)

Just faster, more colour and does not require back lights.

You can actually buy a screen cleaner. Check out Retravision or Harvey Normans. I thought you can just wipe marks off, then went to remove a finger print the other day and found it would not wipe straight off. :O

I just use the same LCD cleaner I use for my PC and laptop screens, you can grab a kit from any computer store. Something like this www.pccasegear.com/... will do.

Omg my dad done that in dick smith a LCD screen had a movie on but you needed to press play so he thinks it's touch screen and pushes it so hard it nearly fell off the display thing they had it on, I pissed myself laughing!

Does anyone know what causes this on a plasma.

It was purchased in Jan, has not had a floggin. It appears on White backgrounds, on all inputs, and is getting worse.
I rang Samsung and they said they have never heard of it, and told me it could be light bleed from the back light, but I don't think it is.
They said they were going to send me an update on a USB (which I think will do crap all) but that was last Friday and I'm still waiting.....

What model is it?

Can't remember what model it was but i remember someone owning a Samsung Plasma which started showing purple and green lines which turned out being a motherboard fault and required repairs. I heard Samsungs support is fairly poor though.

Yeah the the bloke I talked with was really nice, but he had no idea. But he said is the upgrade does not work, then a bloke will come to the house. Im hoping they replace the whole tv with a newer model cos the buzzing coming from it is pissing me off also.

He said it soulds like clouding, or bleeding from the backlight. Which I can tell you it isn't. Its thousands of pixels not displaying white properly.

Just hope that if they replace the TV they replace the 13 sets of 3d glasses also....
