I wanted opinions from you guys on this. I currently run everything through my Plasma TV but i keep getting people tell me it's better to game on a monitor especially with PCs.
What i want to know is true or false? and why? i'm open to all opinions fact or not i'm just undecided on weather to get a monitor or not.
Would have used one of the other threads but thought this was a worthy topic...

Monitors are better, some people use TVs because they're a cheap way to get large screens. Video will look fine on a TV, some games too but text can look awful.

My 24" monitor has a higher resolution than my 46" 1080P TV anyway.

I think the main problem with big flat screen TVs is the refresh rate but these days most decent LCD/LED and even some of the higher end Plasma screens have a good enough refresh rate for gaming. 2-5ms is good enough.
Personally if you are happy with the image you are getting just tell everyone else to get ****ed. You are the one that's using it not them.

Using a TV depends on how close to the screen you are situated.
Sitting at a desk, anything over 30" at 1080p is going to look awful. Text will suffer the most as with games, because of the constant motion it blurs the lines a bit.

Usually TV's have a much higher input lag, too. I haven't found a TV with an input lag less than twice as long as a monitor, some even with ten times the lag. This makes a big difference if you play FPS games etc. on your console.

Much better on a monitor I would only user the TV for HTPC/Videos. General use and gaming not a chance.

Firstly cheers for everyones input on this.

@Skarteh your comment though pushed me over the edge and today i have a new BenQ 3D monitor in front of me and damn how ive been putting up with my Plasma for PC use for so long is beyond me...

Awesome monitor for my needs. The colours are spot on, to be honest this is the best monitor i have used.

Good choice. Thats about as good a monitor as you can get before going IPS. Try out 3D vision if you have an Nvidia card, it will impress if you are used to TV 3D.

Funny how most LCD panels are only now finally get back into the high refresh rates that we enjoyed on CRT screens for so long.

I prefer monitors with a decent PPI for reading. Video watching is generally fine on anything.
