What game will be GOTY?

For the first time in a very long time, we actually seem to have some GREAT games coming out, and we can't forget earlier this years Portal 2.

I think we can rule Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 out, as they both don't seem to be doing anything TOO new, or even too well :/
I'm sure they'll both be good shooters, but I doubt we'll be going back to them in a few years, which is what I think really makes a great game.

So, I think the candidates we have, and please tell me if I'm forgetting any.

Portal 2
Batman Arkham City
Uncharted 3
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Skyrim

I haven't played Batman yet, but I absolutely loved Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 1 and 2, the Zelda series and Oblivion, so, I just can't wait for exams to finish so I can play all of these games :P

What do you think will be the best from those few, or if you think one I haven't mentioned will be better?

I think probably Zelda, the Nintendo magazine already called it the best Zelda game to date, though they could just be throwing that around :P
It really does look great though, hell, all of these games look great.

It's gonna be an amazing next few months regardless :D

I don't think so. I never played any games before Oblivion and I didn't have any issues.

I kind of meant FPS's and RPG's when I was talking about PC games being superior.

And I love how this quickly became a shouting match over which franchise they love more.
Anyone who has said "definitely" in this thread is pretty ignorant :P
They're all gonna be amazing (Hopefully) Open yourself up to some new franchises if you haven't already :P

Forza 4 needs to be looked at also. So much more to do offline and a online. Not saying it should or will get GOTY but it should be a contender atleast

Don't know if it will be the GOTY, but I'd consider it a contender.

I really can't say who will win, there was some good games this year and some are still to come out.

Only one person mentioned 'Dead Space 2'. This game should be considered.
Does this forum site only have one GoTY title? Can this site also have GoTY contenders for specific categories - like 'Best Shooter', 'Best RPG', 'Best Action / Adventure', 'Best Puzzler'? If it's possible, then overlooked titles could be mentioned (eg. Dark Souls).

We didn't have an indie one but we definitely will this year. We just each chose a GOTY last year and then let the community decide.

probably skyrim because it's a multiplatform game that everybody loves. see the pattern: GOTY 2008 fallout 3; 2009: Uncharted 2; 2010: Mass Effect 2; 2011:Skyrim.

However, I'm personally looking forward to uncharted 3 the most, and that's my own favourite game to be picked for GOTY.

I think @Dicky and @Prime have both showed how Uncharted isn't quite for everyone. No game is, but maybe Skyrim being as large and varied as it is makes it more appealing on a broader scale?

im most looking forward to saints row 3 but i know it wont get game of the year. i dont know anything about skyrim either.

but i do think uncharted 3 (i know its not out yet just judging by reviews) and batman AC are my picks to be up there for contention
