Modern Warfare 4... Will it happen?

So I was just thinking, with Black Ops 2 coming out in a few months, we'll soon start to hear about the next game in the modern warfare franchise. Besides the obvious issue of the modern warfare games being overdone and people getting bored of the same rehashed game, I don't think Activision can go with the name Modern Warfare 4, because it will be confused too much with the first game in the series, CoD 4.

So will they leave MW at a trilogy and start up a new franchise? Or just keep the same theme and somehow find a name workaround to avoid the potential confusion with CoD 4? What other options might they have?

I'm guessing they will continue as Price is still alive and kicking.

As for a name change- perhaps? Or they might just come up with something really lame like MW Tactical assault...

Price has been in soo many CoDs! and not just from the MW series.

I hope they'll start something new. Leave the trilogy of MW and work on something else. The core features of the campaign and multiplayer are getting stale

He's definitely a house hold name in CoD.

It'd be cool to have a series of movies in the next CoD about the history of the characters (Sgt. Reznov, Soap, Price, MacMillan etc)

Maybe a launch title for the next Xbox? I mean, if Microsoft announce a new Xbox next year at E3 and plan to release it by December, surely the next Call of Duty, along with another month exclusive DLC contract could launch with it. That way they could also milk the Modern Warfare franchise more due to it taking advantage of newer hardware and being one of the first (if not the first) FPS for the new console.

Well technically in the MW series, He plays the first mission and last mission (first being the One shot, One kill flashback from 1996 in CoD4 and the last in MW3 - Dust To Dust)

So you'd think that'd end the trilogy.

I assume it will end up being made. It'll definitely be on 360, PS3, but maybe also as a launch title for any new console at the end of 2013 (I assume we'll get a new Xbox by then).

They should do a remake of cod 4 using the MW2 engine and then stop making the games =D

Reboot and sequels is video games from now and onwards they don't have money for new IP so sequels and reboot is safer

Don't have the money? Are you kidding? Activision are only making sequels because of all the money they are raking in.

And as long as they keep raking in that money, they will keep milking the Call of Duty series. Another Modern Warfare game is very, very likely.
