Third Person vs. First Person

Just tried gears of war 3 beta and straight away I cringed when i saw that it was third person.. I frantically tried all the buttons thinking it was like fallout and that i could change it to first.. I was wrong.. Most games I like first person.. Only game that i really enjoying in third person was infamous.. I try so hard to get into the game.. I played 3 levels of dead space and still just hated the third person aspect then i just hated the game.. I never play third person in the fallout or oblivian it just doesn't feel right.. Batman AA and infamous i enjoyed but not sure why i cant get into many others.. Majority of my games are first person..

3rd person for me. like someone else here said, more adventure, when your in cover you can stilll see where everyone is (not realistic, but hey), and you can see the awesome design of your character depending on the game

I prefer 3rd person. I get to see more of my surroundings and I don't feel so cramped (especially in tight places/corners), particularly when I'm trying to hide.

Plus I'm less likely to get motion sickness, which first-person games have been known to do to me.

Fps all the way targeting system in 3rd person shooters seem to be hard to get right and unless the figure out a new way to do it ill always pick fps over 3rd person.

I enjoy both, though it usually just depends on the game. I never really mind what the camera is like as long as the game itself is enjoyable. I don't prefer one over the other. ^_^

Depending on the game for me I love the fact the gears of war is Third person would hate it to be a fps but love that cod is fps can't stand playing it in Third person

See some games such as Rage I could not imagine in a third person perspective and same goes as Uncharted imagine that in a first person view, yuck [sick]

I prefer FP, but only when it's done right. When it really pulls you into the experience and makes you feel genuinely part of the world. See Bioshock, Half-Life, even Far Cry 2 to a lesser extent. Fallout offers that perspective and I think first-person is more effective in Fallout 3 and NV than third-person. Maybe that's just me though.

FPS don't typically interest me, but I like tight environments and tense action. That is why I love F.E.A.R and those types of games. But I also love Dead Space.
