Welcome to the MyPS3 Folding@Home official team thread!

Our team number is 60766.

The Folding@Home application can be found under Network in the PS3 XMB. To join the MyPS3 team, open up Folding@Home, go to options, identity and then join an existing team.

Folding@Home is an application which you can download for your PS3 which helps medical research on protein folding for Stanford University. Further knowledge of how protein molecules behave will hopefully lead to cures for diseases such as Alzheimers, Hungtintons as well as some forms of cancer. Please contribute as much as you can, as every bit of help counts.

Yeh i agree.. its why i guess Sony & Stanford didn't feel the need to make the program the same as the PC version. I do still hope that they change it to a background program though, hopefully soon.

Remember its ok if you only run the program for 8hrs a day or 8hrs a week (its best to run 8hrs continuously at a time rather than in short bursts) your still helping out. If you don't like the impact it has on your electricity bill, just dont run it as often.. But every extra person Folding@Home really helps out the projects developments and helps them hopefully achieve their goals quicker.. a cure! haha

I don't know what happened, but when I start up Folding@Home ... it gets stuck at the Loading screen but I can hear the music twinkling sound in the background.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? I've tried restarting the program and restarting the PS3.

Man, my Folding@Home's screwed. I don't think I'll bother doing any folding until the next update's out.

It just gets stuck at the Loading screen with the ocean wave sounds playing in the background.

looks like u mite have to delete the program and reinstall.. im not sure.. i haven't had the problem sorry.

advanced mode i think just means u get shorter deadline work units (designed for folders who run their system ATLEAST 8hrs a day (like me!)) and possibly more points though i get varied results on that. its also meant to give u newer work units and you sort of test em i think.. not sure

The enzymes are more complex in the advanced mode, so it would make it harder to fold the enzyme into different proteins.

That happened to me when I turned my PS3 on again after a blackout shut it down. Just keep trying to open and eventually it may start working again. You can hear the sound of it folding, though, can't you?

Btw, my Folding@Home is back to normal again! It seems that it was F@H's fault. Their servers were busy or something. Like ... what the?

Anyway, lately I've just been leaving my PS3 on 24/7 doing folding. I've been preoccupied doing other stuff e.g. work.

yeh wutangs right.. Stanfords servers are having issues.. but thats coz the PS3 ones are getting upgraded! This is good news coz it means it should provide more reliable connections and more room for the Playstation Folding Community to grow..

lets get our friends & family into this stuff.. it can only help speed Stanford's research up! (which is good for us haha)

yeh ozchap.. im gettin real long ones as well.. i'm in advanced mode. you should get heaps of points for it tho.. just the other day i got 2225 points for 3 work units! average is 800-900 points!
