I have both consoles and I'd rather fork out $50 for live every 12 months (gamelane) then pay for plus @_@

I am the exact opposite. I am not going to pay $50 a year just so I can play online. I personally prefer single player games so there is no value in a gold membership at all for me. Plus on the other hand gives me something to play for my money.

I think playstation plus is a great deal, better than paying $50 a year for xbox live. at least with plus you get free games and avatars and stuff for your $50, with live all you get is online play which is already free on ps3.
