Fallout 3, What Say You?

well just finished RDR and having the mrs overseas at the moment allows me to delve deep into my fetish ..wearing her clothes with lipstick smeared around my mouth whilst playing PS3.

Been seriously thinking about Fallout3 game of the year edition. EB's got it for 49.95. Ive read the review off of here and just wanting a bit of "accross the board" things you guys 'n gals liked or diss liked about the game.

Im a bit impatient when it comes to games ...i want action and i want it quick and i also want scenery not to look too and bland. monotonous ..I have owned Oblivian and as much as i wanted to like it ..it just wasnt for me as far as action (or lack of ,quick enough) and scenery being a bit the same and its pause menu/ list of things you have collected and items to use was way too complicated for my impatient needs to come to grips with a game in one afternoon.

So....some key things i want to know about Fallout 3 ,is there alot of puzzles? ..do you have to back track and cover the same old ground looking for things to progress? ..is the itinarary menu complicated like oblivians?

Do you think Fallout 3 will be for a gamer such as myself from the very brief discription ive stated above?

please let me know what you think about the game also.

lol I got a platinum on Fallout 3 as well :) I loved it, took me a good 40hrs but it was great fun. The DLC wasnt as good though... kinda boring. I hope New Vegas is good.

Apparently the glitching was for people using their old saves from their original Fallout3 (non goty) game. The only way around it is to delete your saves and start from scratch.... I still haven't started a new game yet.... oh the shame :'@

Agreed.
I hope the scenery is a little less drab with more variety of colours but otherwise am really looking forward to New Vegas. V.A.T.S FTW *_*

I've gotten 3000 out of an MMO before, but for a single player game I think you are right on the money. I didn't find Oblivion much good so I didn't get as much out of that, but Fallout 3 raaawr! So many hours! And then when I'd finished all of it and dicked around for ages, I started it all again with a bunch of mods that expanded it even MORE XD

Best value game I ever bought though was Guild Wars but as I said, MMO.

Steam had Fallout 3 GOTY with all the expansions for $24 on Steam the other day and I missed out on it by 1 day [Facepalm] Oblivion was on sale for $10 or less too. God damned cranky I missed out on that sale.

I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder, Oblivion is my all time fav game and I always go bad to it when new release are rare.

At last count I had lost some +600 hrs to it (5 diff characters).

For me the game plays totally different depending on your character, It's a true RPG, if you RP the game can be indepeth. But than I am a TES fan not so much the Fallout series.

I have guild wars but yet to truelly get into it.

It's hard to get into GW now, it's winding down. I was fortunate that my whole clan got it. Mates make the difference most of the time.

Yeah my issue with Oblivion was the lack of diversity of the terrain and wheb you get to the part where you have to close the gates I just facepalmed and stopped playing. Closing those gates was not fun for me at all. The Guild Quests were the best part of that game for me :) assassin and theif guilds were wicked!

Nope because as long as your away from enemies you can fast travel.

i advise anyone who "likes" fallout 3 to check out 1-2 of the series, even fallout tactics to a point.

Fallout 1-2 is rpg at it's best, build up a squad of ghouls/tribals/mutants, save the world, be a pimp/slaver, or cure jet and drive around the wastelands in your own car... get married or pimp her out for extra money.. don't like a team mate? sell him for fuel money.

and tactics is like most tactic/points games your in charge of the first team of outlanders for the brotherhood of steel and it's basically a bunch of missions to save the world as usual.

It takes a while to get into. Lots of talking at the beginning for a few hours. I played for about 30 minutes, but I got told it gets more action packed........eventually -_-

Perhaps try Borderlands?

Bought FO3 a few weeks ago and it hasn't come out of the drive in that time! Absolutely love it.
Make sure you get GOTY edition too.
Don't like the 3rd person view, they should have left that out and used that button for something else. The graphics in that view are poor.
The game has frozen a coupe of times but i'm a game save 'freak' so no lost cause.
As with all opinions on this thread, some people like it, some don't. You're the only one DP that will know within the first hour/day whether you will like it or not. :D

Yea borderlands could be a good alternative, i found it a little repetive and boring towards the end, i cant comment on demon soul as i haven't played, i still think Fallout is pretty amazing though!

I so wanted to like FO3...standard Ed...and since giving-up on it and taking it back to EB within the week, have re-thought a little about why I gave up on it.
Clearly, I had many other games that I was playing at the time, all of which were my usual FPS or driving stuff. It was, without doubt to a large extent, responsible for my not being able to fully get into Fallout 3...the game itself looks great, and would take half a lifetime to wander around the huge landscapes.
I have decided, be it now or in the not too distant future, to re-visit the game, this time the GOTY Ed, and devote the time to it that the game deserves. In truth, it has been very shallow of me to simply stick to your basic FPS title/driving game...I shudder to think of how many other great gaming experiences I've missed due to this blinkered attitude....I have decided I wouldn't enjoy them without giving them a chance.

Almost certainly....at $49, for the GOTY Ed, it's very close to a no-brainer.

I might just suck at this game but it seems to go from ok to play to suddenly getting wtfpwned by mobs. Head to Megaton and do a few quests. Then off I go to find a Radio Station on the search for dad. Head off and run across mobs that smash me in seconds. Hmmmmm maybe there is alot more to do around Megaton that I think so I can level up a little. :*O

I've really tried to like it to. Not my cup of tea. Not sure who is going to review New Vegas. But yeah, I just couldn't enjoy Fallout 3. I'm sure it's a great game, but just not my type of game.
