From what I've played through so far, it's OK but lacks that certian 'something' that made the first and second games so memorable.
What annoys me in this installment is the frequent word pop-ups, and that odd picture flashing during Max's narrative - also that dreadfully cliche-heavy story. I think the developers should've referred to Remedy's story-type which is much better.
@Heller what setting did you prefer. 'Hard-aim', 'soft-aim', or the other one?
I picked 'soft-aim', but that's too awkward for me.

The word pop ups and flashes are clues to the story that's why . Most reviews say the cut scene and the story are the best parts but this game. People do miss Remedy's comic style cut scenes from early MP games but they did that because of budget cuts when developing.
Too me this is the best Max Payne I've played and if I finish it I defenitely playing again. Multiplayer is awesome too and people I know hate the multiplayer but that's because they always complain about how hard it is and they keep on dying but to me I always its opposite, I like pwning enemies with my dual pistols doing slow mo dives surprise out of corners and always hear 'What!, that's bullsh*t!' from the guy that a killed lol.

@gamerguy neither bro, I played 100% manual aim! Not the best with a console, but I'm practicing my headshots for the PC release!

The guys at Rockstar thought that the comic narrative was a little dated, and in some respects they are right. It seems that only indie devs who can't afford FMV or to create narrative cut-scenes in game resort to using them these days. The flashing words not only give clues to the story, but it was their way of making it a style of "living comic" so to speak.

I don't mind it, but I hate the constant flashing of colours and hue, it gave me a headache at first.

All I know about this series is the pretty average movie, never touched the last couple of games not sure if I should bother with this. Looks like something I;d get into when I see it one a Steam sale not a launch day game for me.

90% of game-movie adaptations don't do the games any justice & i'm in the minority that didn't mind the average Tekken movie with the non-asian Kazuya mainly for the lolz.

On the topic of game movies wouldn't mind seeing a RDR, MGS or Uncharted movie, they wouldn't be anywhere near as good as the games were unless they were massive budget flicks though.

I have to say i'm enjoying MP3 in small doses, the story is pretty hardcore.

Dodge diving can be a gamble when using it, it can make win or lose, u need to use it the right time and use it wisely. In multiplayer I used it alot in tricky situations and it helped me win alot of gun battles online.
