If anyone has recieved a code from somebody in the U.S, only to get excited and then get denied!!!! I pray u didn't throw out that code!! If u log into the U.S PSN ID that u should have by now, then enter the code there... it will work, but im not sure if u can only play the beta on that account.. just started downloading it before and im probably gonna be up till about 5am just so i can give it a test run... HAPPY DAY!

ok my thoughts so far:

controls = fine, you can configure them and there is a number of preset ones which work alright. particularly for a person like me who hardly plays FPS on the console (more on the computer) even i thought they were alright.

lag = none, you might have a crappy internet for all the people who have commented on the lag. i saw no lag in the menu, or in game. slight lag spike here and there but very few. no problem at all using asssault or sniper rifles.

time waiting = not as long as those who described it ( i was expecting 5 min waits like some described it) but about 1 to 2 min max joining time. the most you'll wait is on joining a game already in progress in which you have to wait until the round ends. so joining time is not short, but it is expected compared to all other online FPS. like MGO.

headsets = well apart from what some people said in this thread that its "very clear" it really depends on the mic and the person talking. some were clear, some were to loud, some were muffled. i am not sure how to mute people in game? so that might be a handy option to use. i can already imagine when full version comes out so many people abusing the mic llike they already are (i really dont want to hear people talk about the weather, just STFU and play)

gameplay = i'll have to compare this to the other online FPO. CoD4 mainly. first of all, infinate running? come on....sniping is way to easy, there is no "breathing" motion like Cod4 where your person moves up and done. snipering is just solid - which is unrealistic in a way. assaulting is per usual, dont see anything wrong there. there larger maps, are LARGE, i am, i can just imagine some pro one day whose skills may not be in solid aiming, but purely camping in the right areas of the game to win. i mean, a solid 2 team player combo or just solo can camp a nice sniping position with a claymore placed properly. i still feel this compared to CoD4 is lacking in its besst. CoD4 is fairly realistic and dont know if its the best word, but "heavy." this game is really "light." it also lacks a good solid single player, which most people wont care about becuase it makes it cheaper BUT it just slips more depth from this game. CoD4 was not only brilliant for its multiplayer, but its single player campaign, imo, is the best FPS single player campaign EVER. it would of been nice for SOCOM to put single player mode in there just to even let you get use to the controls, but your simply dumped in the deep end with a bunch of skilled players online who wont cut you any slack. throwing grenades is much like MGO/gears with an indication of where it will be thrown. reloading times are fast compared to CoD4. as for other people's comments re respawn time - not a big deal as it can be changed

my point, lucky this game is only $60 with headset, even with that i feel its expensive for the lack of depth the game is. i am quite bored of it already and simply cannot see myself playing this game with the likes of LBP, fallout 3, fifa 2009 coming out around the corner.

what MIGHT save the game in the future is SOLID DLC from the developers. i mean like SOLID DLC - new maps every 2 weeks or a month, new guns etc otherwise its not worth your money even if its $60 + headset. compare this to GT prologue. sure not much tracks or cars, but solid online and developer support. GT TV, new online time trails, online event challanges, free movies, free samples, and great updates e.g. Spec II, great single AND multiplayer. GT prologue is a great example of a $50 game bang for your buck deal.

This is why noobs shouldn't get BETA keys.

This game is in closed BETA...
Warhawk even had the same process. Ask anyone who was in the Warhawk BETA if the game suffered from any glitches or bugs before it's release.

If you find a problem, you post it on the official SOCOM BETA boards, not come here and whine like a bitch about it. That way, the developers take those problems, and fix / change it.

WoW(World of Warcraft) one of the most popular games in existance, with over 7 million subscribers had it's own problems during it's BETA. Players would get booted off servers, and their characters would get rolled back several hours.

you saying it will change compared to me saying it wont is no difference.

neither of us are developers. let me put it this way, there is a possibility of the game coming out as a RTS game upon releasse. there is also a possibility that the game will have no significant changes aprt from bugs from the full version of release. i have been in BETA's before, the mainchanges are always imbalances and bugs. changes to core gameplay, which i find there are issues with, hardly change.

but please, developers of SOCOM, change it for the better, i welcome it.

1. no infinate running or jumping
2. reload times on guns differ from each gun and more realistic
3. make sniping harder.

i am also finding the scoping not that great either.

good points are its not lagging, sony has some nice online architecture or my ISP is just awesome.

i cannot wait for that massive online FPS of 256 players online now. bring it.
