Big Ant Studios is proud to announce that they are to develop Australian Rules Football for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Following up on the recent announcement that Big Ant Studios are expanding into Queensland, comes the exciting news that they are to produce a fully licensed AFL video game.

So Blue Ant are taking over from IR Gurus (thankgod for that). Lets see what BA can do.

So what do we know about it:

Release Date: Early 2010
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC
Mutiplayer: 4 player offline, 2 player online
Pre-Production: July 2008
No Publisher named at this point in time.

They have already started on it.

will there be the missions mode like on 07 where you have to come from 5 goals down at 3QTR TIME and stuff like that :)

they also mention the GC team and the draft, so it will be interesting to see the lineup it ships with, but first half of 2011 im suggesting start of the season or start of the pre-season cup as a possible release date

Interesting. Hopefully it's a yearly affair. I'd rather they spend the time to get it right and then set the building blocks in place for future games.

the gc suns will be in the game but no draft.

i was really looking forward to it till i heard that the draft isn't in the game.
you can still trade with other teams and edit players

the trading isn't proper trading though i dont think.
i think it means u can just swap players at clubs using an editor, would make it way too easy.

instead of the draft you can just create players like make a guy 7feet tall to be a ruck or a 150 cm hobit :O

you know whats strange when they took the pictures of the players eg gary ablet he was in a geelong jumper now they have to scrap that and put it in a gold coast jumper and paul medhurst quit so they have to scrap him :P

No point releasing it now. May as well finish polishing it off and release it for the start of next season.

The PS2 games were normally released in Grand Final week which didn't make sense to me. Yeah, there was increased AFL hype for that week, but fans would have bought it throughout the season.

The fixture isn't the main issue they have to get all the teams finished so all the traded and drafted players are in their 2011 teams.

I think we will see a release just after the AFL season starts.

i think the game should be sort of managing teams to, delisting players at the end of the year, contracts and firing coaches :D
