Big Ant Studios is proud to announce that they are to develop Australian Rules Football for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Following up on the recent announcement that Big Ant Studios are expanding into Queensland, comes the exciting news that they are to produce a fully licensed AFL video game.

So Blue Ant are taking over from IR Gurus (thankgod for that). Lets see what BA can do.

So what do we know about it:

Release Date: Early 2010
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC
Mutiplayer: 4 player offline, 2 player online
Pre-Production: July 2008
No Publisher named at this point in time.

They have already started on it.

Why would Rockstar develop it? They shouldn't even publish it. They have no more sports experience than Big Ant, in fact, they have much less.

This. Just because they can make one amazing franchise, does not mean that any other franchise they make will automatically be succesful.

also, there are no rockstar sections in australia, so why would they be even interested in a game that would only appeal to one country...

Yeah I thought so. I went and played against Carine back in 2001 when I was playing rep footy for the Diamond Valley Football League (now Northern Football League).

It's explained on Bigfooty, this wasn't meant to be released but someone posted the video last night and it was quickly pulled off YouTube.

Ross the CEO of BigAnt decided that it won't hurt if the people who missed out last night see it now.

It looks very nice IMO.

Based on his posts on BigFooty, they are wrapping up development and organising preview meets with press, so I assume a trailer isn't too far off.

In my area I never heard it called AFL 'aerial ping-pong' my samoan n tongan friends in my area call it 'cracker ball' n sum others guys call it 'victorian rugby/footy' or just simple 'AFL' but they never call it down here 'footy/football'.
