Big Ant Studios is proud to announce that they are to develop Australian Rules Football for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Following up on the recent announcement that Big Ant Studios are expanding into Queensland, comes the exciting news that they are to produce a fully licensed AFL video game.

So Blue Ant are taking over from IR Gurus (thankgod for that). Lets see what BA can do.

So what do we know about it:

Release Date: Early 2010
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC
Mutiplayer: 4 player offline, 2 player online
Pre-Production: July 2008
No Publisher named at this point in time.

They have already started on it.

the rugby market in all those places is still very limited. in south america the only country that cares is argentina. in europe obviously football takes precedence and even rugby league is making strong ground in england and france on union. and in autralia you might get 30000 to an all australian game, if that? afl can get 400,000 through on a strong-ish weekend plus tv viewers...thats not a bad supporter base.

Would love the AFL game to have a draft (obviously) but also to have a Career mode where you start off in Under 18s amd pending on the year you have you get drafted or rookie listed and work way to Brownlow medal or Coleman from there!

Is this game ever going to be released?
I was talking about this yesterday with a few other members, & I can't see it coming until the 2011 season if at all. :'@

lol, you are probably right.
The AFL should put some $$ in from there marketing budget....oh that's right it's all be soaked up by the rugby league players. :P

You would think the AFL would be spending heaps on these games as it's promoting the AFl worldwinde.
What better way to spread the game of AFl to a wider market other than Australia.

a mate of mine actually coaches a team in germany, AFL sent him over there and offered him a cert in couching if he does 2 years there training a local team up, and there is also leagues in china/america and europe.

ive got a masters degree in 'couching' lol.
Seriously your right Aeschylus, there are leagues in majority of major countries around the world and with the money the AFL is making and will make at next Broadcasting rights, surely they have a little pocket money to splash around in getting a game produced. Surely the exposure would only help in marketing with GC & GWS coming in to the league, may help those particular areas to understand and comprehend the rules (if they stop changing them every year)
