Was just wondering what(if any) differences there ae between the 80gig Ps3 & the new Ps3 Slim.
I am just trying to work out which model to get.
Can you upgrade the HDD in the slim? Card readers SD etc??
Any help on this subject would be much appreciated

Hate to be a downer, tho it's always exciting when something new like this comes to pass,but did anyone see the article showing the differences in speed when comparing the slim with the phat one.
Loading times I mean.
Why would you want to go slower for the sake of a looks?
It's like putting a old VW motor in a porsche shell, hey it will look awesome but you will still be driving Miss daisy.
Hehehe not to put a negative spin on this

You clearly didn't read the article did you mate?!

Sorry to put a negative spin on your post, but some videos show that the slim is slower and then other videos show that it is faster, the results have not been confirmed.

Sorry to put a negative spin on your post, but some videos show that the slim is slower and then other videos show that it is faster, the results have not been confirmed.

Speaking of dads, my dad was very tempted in getting this but then he realized all the stuff that our current PS3 has that the Slim doesn't. So he said "**** it" and played Warhawk.

He should use the money to buy a freaking 360. Yeah that's right! Tired of MS hogging all the good stuff.

PS3 Slim - Reloaded

Just a quick overview of the new PS3 Slim.
Firstly the mass weight (including boxing) is much lighter than the original launch model.

Once taken out of the box, you'll realise an incredible weight of your shoulder as it's almost less than half the weight of a 60gb model (you can lift it in one hand without quickly becoming tired).

You know how it looks, in reality it doesn't look as cheap as you may view it. Cheap but not as cheap looking as the PS2 Slim. The On/Stand-by and Eject button is ok, not solid but fine. When inserting a disc in it rotates inwards. Both Eject and On buttons have a 'white' light coming from it. Plus you have a green and red elsewhere, altogether four lights are always On when system is in operational.

When the console is turned on, you'll see the new PS3 logo come up but the background is still pre-3.0 fw.

PS3 Slim is pre-installed with version 2.76.

120gb hard drive is actually not that much at all. In the settings you'll find it started with only 111gb in total and you're left with 97gb for use!

Note: I didn't actually buy one as I didn't need to. But I know someone who bought one at midnight and I thought I'd take a closer look at it again.

I went to the Swanston St, Melbourne City midnight launch...picked my Slim up for a discounted price, and was 99% happy (the 1% unsatisfactory feeling was due to the fact that the tiny PS logo on the console cannot be rotated to suit the vertical console stance positioning) with my purchase.

It just isn't justified unless you were planning on buying a PS3 anyway... that and IMO, it's not really that much smaller... it's the same width isn't it? Just shorter? Remember the slim PS2? ... that is what I call 'slim'... the PS3 will be worth it when it's that size and half the price, lulz...
