Was just wondering what(if any) differences there ae between the 80gig Ps3 & the new Ps3 Slim.
I am just trying to work out which model to get.
Can you upgrade the HDD in the slim? Card readers SD etc??
Any help on this subject would be much appreciated

When I went to sell my 80GB when I was going to a 40GB was going for $500! But when I tried twice to sell mine these yanks think they have bought it but I object to send it to America.

+ 3 bad move sony. I hate the look of it. Looks like its been run over by a steam roller, not only that makes the 360 look good. I'm wondering is this slim ps3 suppose to compete with Wii hardware sales?

It appears that the 'Slim' has omitted alot of the originals aesthetic "shine". Not only has the shininess turned into matte, but colors have also faded away. The 'PS' badge near the disc drive entry is no longer in it's happy rainbow colour

The name printed/engraved on it now only shortened to the simplistic 'PS3' (not in the best font either). Though shorter in height and slimmer in girth, it's still just as wide as the original.

Other than the shine being taken away, the upper luxury of having 'touch sensitive' feature button not replaced by actual buttons. I thought the original sku actually screamed 'class' and blended and fits within the current high-tech gadgetry you can buy today.

And now....looks great next to a PS2 Slim

$331 for 23.6" so yeah basically. can't wait just got a lot of hard work this weekend to get the $$$ 7 am - 5 pm saturday, 12 pm - 8 pm sunday

In some ways Sony have taken the right approach here..

They've offered "the cheaper alternative" now giving people a choice to spent a little less, receive a little less. Sure It doesn't look as good as the old model, then again why should It? It basically does the same thing. And now carrying the name "Slim" is not counting out some buyers of older models to upgrade by having that name.

What I'm really interested in is.. If any changes have been made to help reduce the effect of YLOD. Now on the shelves time will tell us. I personally think they've done a little home work on the mother boards. Then again the "cheaper tag" might mean more problems internally.

Time will tell...

I just don't see the PS3 as the "high end" console anymore...the new Slim just looks cheap and plasticky.....

Maybe that's what's Sony is going for....but can't their design team work on something that looks like people are willing to drool and lust over?

I remember when the first spy pics were leaked out, EVERYONE said it was ugly - and now it's real....and people are saying that it looks nice? Talk about fanboyism!

I am sure Sony will sell tonnes of these....since they are targeting the majority of the population - the low end buyers.

For once I am happy with my PS3, which has 500GB, can play SuperAudio CDs, PS2 games, 4 USB ports, Multimedia card slots and can stand up vertically without a $50 stand.

I agree entice, its given the ps3 a more cheaper look, from what its predecessor looked like (60gig/80/40/20). It dosent look as mean and powerful, it just looks flat and unattractive .

+1. The 60gig looks smexy, and that makes me love my console, i just look at the slim pics and I cant imagine owning one because it dosent suit me. Sony , good job at making it look cheap because it really does look cheap now. I think the 60 gigs (best ps3 model) looks uber-smexy
