Saints Row 3 Story - Are people taking it too seriously?

I just had a discussion/fight with a friend that was bitching about the story in Saints Row: The Third, basically saying that the entire series has been ruined because they killed off all of the characters.

And first I thought, "who cares?"

And then I thought, "Saints Row has a story?"

Am I the only one that doesn't really care about what is supposed to be a ridiculous story, or am I not looking at the game seriously enough?

Surely I'm not the only one playing this 100% for the anarchy, 0% for the story (although I did enjoy the story).

Actually, I do kinda miss some of the characters form the original that dont make an appearance, like Troy and Dex, but the game does fine without it.

First game was really just a try-hard GTA, let's be honest. As badly as it didn't want to be one, that's exactly what it was.

the story line is believable enough for a game. it could be the plot of a movie and besides ive seen crazier stuff in movies than in this.

in regards to the ending i have now played both and i think they will go with the more obvious option and keep everyone alive for the next one

I think MGS4 ruined cut scenes for me forever. After sitting through that crap to hit buttons at various points to get pioint I honestly find it hard to sit through a cutscene more than a minute long these days.... I just wannna plaaaaay....
