Transferring data from old to new PS3

Hi I'm getting a new PS3 slim to replace my old PS3 phat because just like a rich husband leaving his old wife for a younger n slimmer wife.
I just need some help or advice how to transfer all my data from my old PS3 to the new. Please share links, personal experience or even tutorial videos.

The preferred way is to use the Data transfer utility method. This will transfer everything from your old ps3 to your new sexy slim ps3. This is the method I used to transfer my fat ps3 to my new ps3 slim. I just used an ordinary ethernet cable.

The only issues I had with this was I had to restart the method 5 times. Only to find out that I had corrupted files in my fat ps3 system. So before making the transfer, be sure there is no corrupted files in your system. Or another way is to transfer all your data to a HDD. But because I used the Data transfer utility everything, including all my copy restricted game files (like Killzone 2 etc) are able to transfer to my new ps3 slim. ;)

If you try this method. Hopefully you won't have problems like I did.

Sweet thanks, I'm going to check my old PS3 HDD files now and clean it up from any corrupt files or unwanted data. I already backed up my non ps3 files like movies,pics and music I just want to transfer my save files, DLCs, games and profiles. BTW how long does the transfer take?

If your just going to transfer save files and DLCs, it shouldn't take you long. It took me 30-45 mins. But I had to delete most of my game data, because I did not know which were the corrupted files. I didn't delete any of my save data just the game data. Then I just reinstalled them again on my new ps3. The less data you have to transfer the less time it's gonna take.

Depends how much is on your HDD as it transfers over everything PSN games & all, mine took just over an hour & there was only 70gb to transfer.

To get rid of the corrupt files you can get it to repair the system files through the hidden menu or you can just use the PS3 browser until it freezes (won't be long) & it'll ask if you want to repair on startup lol.

I have this one corrupt game data that is 1909MB and takes a long time to delete. Is this good or bad? Or should I just ignore it because everytime I try to delete it takes too long for a small file.

Make sure you delete it. It will take a long time. My Resistance 3 file was corrupted and it took 30+ bloody minutes. Corrupted files take longer to delete.

That resistance 3 data was the worst I've had to deal with, sometimes can take over an hour.

I think the corrupt file was a RE5. It's been 5 minutes and still deleting. It says I've used 54Gb on the HDD that's without the movies, pics and songs.

My data transfer from my fixed YLOD phat PS3 to a new slim one took over 24 hours...

I had a 250gb HDD in my old ps3 and it was full at the time of transferring.

Well I just cleaned my HDD whiched I backed up all my pics, vids and music in a external HDD, deleted save files of games I never going to play again, some game data, corrupt files, some games and DLC I don't need so I only used 54Gb on my PS3 HDD phat and transferring all that to a 160Gb PS3 Slim. My estimate time would be at least 2 hours.
