Port got raped by the umpires because they just don't deserve the respect. It's simple and happens in every team sport. Players get treated better than others, it's a subconscious act that can't be rubbed out. If you're a respected and good team, you'll get the benefit of the doubt. If you're the better team of the two teams on the day, that's the way it goes.
It's not 1988 anymore.
