Yeh mate you are nice and lean! How long have you been training for. Have you considered bulking up though?

Here is a couple of older pics of mine they were when i first started bulking.... I am still currently bulking and i will keep bulking until about august this year and then i will start to cut up start of september. Be big AND lean

Anyone know any really good websites that explain gym stuff at a basic level, like the various machines and uses etc?

Dietary stuff would be cool too, about all the supplements etc.

nice man, real nice i have been training since last febuary, but as school i havent been alot at the start. since october ive become very serious with the gym. i take it very serious. i did have bulk protein, but it ran out. i want a good brand , not cheapo musashi. what do you use?

i like this dumbel workout for biceps. i do it seated with 17.5kg each arm




@ topher, what workouts do you reccomend for bulking up fast?
Hmm bulking is more than just a weight gainer. It's eating 8 big meals a day high in carbs an protein.
ATM in the morning i have a weight gainer (bsn true mass) 2 scoops mixed with 1 egg, a glass of milk, half a glass of water, half a cup of oats and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. Chuck it in the blender and drink that on the way to work and i have a second one that i prepared earlier on my first break at work. Lunch time at work i'll have chicken breast with rice that i cooked the night before and i jsut heat it up in the microwave. Next smoko break i have 2 cans of tuna in oil with rice.

When i get home i have a steak with chips or rice and vegies and bread. Before i go to the gym i'll have pasta and drink creatine (when im loading up on it.. 6 weeks on 6 weeks off) with a crabohydrate drink (vitargo). Straight after gym i have a whey isolate with carb powder mixed in (it has glutamine etc in it to help produce nitrogen to the muscles faster) but you don't count that as a meal. 2 hours after i get home have another high protein and carb meal.. meats chick.. rice etc etc and then late at night (now) tuna and rice. When i feel like having a snack i just eat peanuts

For bulking not so many isolating workouts. For example instead of using rope for triceps do dips, skull crushers and dumbell kickbacks etc. While bulking when i do my chest i Don't do decline, i jsut do 4 sets on upper and lower chest and aim for 6-8 reps at my max weight.
wow you have it all worked out. im sure you will be 10 times bigger than what you are now. lol how old are you mate. im only 16
You want to be able to do 4 easily and the rest should be pain you should barely be able to move the weight. You should pretty much fail every set. I don't do any cardio or sit ups etc... gives you a bit of a gut but you get bulkier everywhere else which is alright.

I'm 21 atm. I am lucky that i have so many people to learn from and take advice. my uncle has been a body builder for nearly 20 years now and my old man was doing it for about 10 years or so too. I also train with someone who has been working out for 5 years...
with dumbells is it breathe in when pulling up and breathe out releasing down??? am i right...
cool. so it dosent matter about body fat to bulk up? it would just turn into bulk muscle anyways.

yeah exactly you will turn into a slab of meat.. like me in those pics... no defenition at all

do you like bulk or ripped more? i like the definition, but massive arms
Obviously the ripped look. But if you just start toning up from your natural body size you will look like an ethiopian runner lol. That's why you bulk hard.... geta bit bigger than the ize you want.. then you lean up so your the size you want to be but your shredded too!

Here is another old pic of what my back was like. As you can see there is no defenition at all it's just wide.. nice and bulky

To all you younger newer guys to the gym - dont neglect working out legs!!! All to easy just to hit the guns.

You get real growth - real conditioning - real strength and mass from Squats. A$$ to the ground heavy squats.

Best compound there is IMO.
I can't jog because of problems with my leg after a car accident in 2000. I have started power walking 7km per day, and am aiming to tone up, not bulk up, and lose around 15kg by mid-year.

Am I right to say that to tone up my arms and chest, I need to do smaller weights with more reps, rather than heavier weights with less reps?

Yea, reasonable weights are good. Not to heavy nor to light.

I like doing alot of them. Rather than doing a little amount of heavy weights. You will find a big difference.

So I do around 10KG now on Bicep Curls. 10 one arm and change over.
Im only 14.. 10 kg is quite a reasonable size weight for me.

Push ups are great for like around pec chest muscles.

Core Upper body strength and abs you can do leg raises, sit ups, chin ups etc.

Looking "ripped" has a lot to do with diet, when doing you weights do them slow and clean and concentrate on your form, and yes more reps 10+
