Help in deciding on new mobile phone

Hey everyone.

My mobile contract is just about up and I'm trying to decide on which phone i should get next

It's come down to the following

Nokia N900 (released in Australia April 2010)

HTC HD2 (which I think is exclusive to Telstra so I'd have to change carriers from Optus to get it for free)

or the new iPhone 3GS (i don't particularly want to be like the rest of the sheep but if it's the best out of the 3 then i'll bite the bullet and get it)

Given the choice what would you get, any pro's and con's you have on them would be greatly appreciated

You get what you pay for with everything. Telstra does and has been proven to work better with 3g devices such as... Well any phone these days especially the iPhone, but then again they are expensive as all hell.

I'm personally with Virgin Mobile (uses the Optus network) and have the iPhone 3G'S, it works ok most of the time but has been said to be leaps and bounds better on the Telstra network.

One last thing, if you were looking down the path of an iPhone I'd wait till June/ July as Apple have so far had a history of bringing out a new phone every year. (They do it with their computers as well)

Have just bought an iPhone 32G S and like it lots.
Have a mint condition C902 Sony Ericsson that I will be selling soon for not too much money - a superb and great looking phone with a lot of features not on the iPhone.
Not that this is a 'For Sale' ad at all - just that the C902 is a nice phone & I would recommend it if it's the sort of thing one was looking for. I went off Nokia a while back after some issues I had. Made the switch to the iPhone not because I needed it but because I wanted and desired it - those bad people at Apple made me get it.
To be fair, I'm not up on what are the latest & greatest out there - it does seem that so many phones are clones of the iPhone, though??

Yeah, definitely. I saw a commercial last night for the new range of Nokia's that had a full app store, and I know there's been a couple Samsung's floating around that boast similar qualities to the iPhone also.

Nah dude, it''s not s*** at all... it does it's job as a phone very well... i just think people are expecting their mobile phones to jerk them off and throw the tissues in the bin nowadays... remember, it's only a phone man

Ok, so im looking at getting a new phone soon (in the next few months) and just wondering which would be better. I was looking at the HTC HD2 but since its not Windows Phone 7 enabled i dont want it. Im now looking at either the Google Nexus one, HTC Desire or the HTC Evo 4G. Im leaning towards the Evo 4G but its going to be pretty hard to get.... Next in line would be the Desire, exactly like the Nexus One but better.

Well instead of making a new thread Ill use this one, contract is almost finished with Optus for my iPhone 3G, kinda over the whole iPhone thing & I want something else & this time Im going Telstra because im sick of the crap coverage I get away from home (mainly at work) & good coverage at home is no good to me because I have wifi anyway.

Was looking at the Windows HTC 7 Mozart phone thru Telstra , $49 a month, has enough calls, text & data for me.

Anyone have any experience with this phone & Andriod OS etc , would anyone recommend it or should i just stick with my iPhone for a bit longer, if i stay with the iPhone im gonna switch to Telstra anyway.

iPhone is still the premier smartphone.
Seriously though there will only be two different replies.
iPhones suck baaa baaa sheep from the bitter anti apple crew or iPhones rule from the apple lovers crew (me).
I had a play with the windows phone and it looked and performed very very good. I would either grab the windows phone or upgrade to an iPhone 4.

My sister has my old phone, and I used it for a minute the other day, and I couldn't believe how crap it felt compared to my iPhone hahaha. And I had only bought it at the beginning of this year and it was nearly $400. I was like.. wow. Thank god I upgraded hahaha :P

I'm probably better off using this thread then starting my own, so i'm looking for a new mobile phone. I'm sick of virgin mobiles terrible plans and coverage so i'm looking for a phone which is not locked to a terrible provider. Any suggestions? I'm not really big on touch screens, since every touch screen phone I have had has been terribly unresponsive. But if there is one that is very highly recommended, then I will consider it. Any help would be appreciated thanks! :)

Just get a cheap under $100 phone that is unlocked. Usually those ones are like bricks.
For the carrier, go with Optus.

They aren't bad but their service is shit to go along with the reception. I was with them for a whilebut was sick of not even being able to get reception in a shopping centre or if i could it was only 1 bar. If you are with Virgin now, just to let you know, they use optus towers so don't expect any better.

My opinion is forget optus, Telstra plans are actually better and so is the reception. With optuis, you go on a 19 cap and have to pay so much back for your phone (30) but you are still only on 19 cap. With Telstra, you go on a 49 cap, that's the plan you are on. The phone is included where as optus, you may be paying the same back but you get less in calls

So far, telstra it is, but does anyone have an opinion on vodafone? They have pretty cheap plans ( unlimited std calls and text on a $49 cap ) but I don't know if they have good reception, or if there's a catch or what...?

I'm on vodafone with my iPhone 4, they are good but their 3G connection IMO sucks. It drops out a lot. Standard reception and data is really good though.
