Would love to hear some thoughts on this.

I'm optimistic about Apple's future as a games maker and hardware manufacturer. iPad can be a great gaming device, and publishers like EA prove that.

I don't think the console is the future of gaming, as the article also states. It's digital, cloud, portability that is. Wii U seems to have it right but Nintendo doesn't have the third party support. Nor a respectable online platform (still... [Facepalm])
What the hell?!?!? What kind of video game professionals are these? About 20% more votes then Miyamoto and 10% more then Gabe newell. Mark Zuckerburg is inn the top 5 aswell. Who the hell voted for this?

He probably made some contributions to gaming and distribution wise but to say they are "more important to gaming" then Gabe Newell or Miyamoto is ridiculous.

I certainly don't agree with the standings either, but I won't argue that he IS a pioneer.

Facebook generates mass amounts of revenue from gaming. See Zynga and its games' install bases. Facebook has many a developer building games for it, mostly free, mostly super accessible to the dumbest of people.

Consider that Apple helped herald in digital distribution, which is the natural next step. I think that in terms of the industry evolving and changing, Apple has contributed quite a lot, and the driving force has been Jobs.

Newell and Miyamoto having been on the scene for as long as they have been doesn't dilute Jobs' and Apple's contribution over the past few years, which has been phenomenal imo. You're talking about a company that essentially reinvigorated the indie scene thanks to the iPhone, which the industry itself can only benefit from. There are a lot of talented devs out there for iPhone. A lot!
