Australian Tea Party Politics

I know many of you don't care about this, and I don't blame you: stay away from it, because if you knew the truth you'd be beyond frustrated at this government.

I decided to finally start this thread after reading this:

NOTE: Since debunked

This makes interesting reading.

Professor Ian Plimer could not have said it better! If you've read his book you will agree, this is a good summary.
Australians showed sense in resisting the govt pressure to agree to a carbon tax the before the Copenhagen Conference - which seems years ago now.

Are you sitting down?

Okay, here's the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland, since its first spewing of volcanic ash has, in just FOUR DAYS, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet - all of you.

Of course you know about this evil carbon dioxide that we are trying to suppress - it’s that vital chemical compound that every plant requires to live and grow and to synthesize into oxygen for us humans and all animal life.

I know, I know.... (group hug)...it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of: driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up till midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, vacationing at home instead of Bali, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs ...well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just four days.

Nobody under the age of 60, by the looks of it. That was interesting.

Yeah, if I was that age I would be complaining too, because what the hell do I care about what The planet is like in 2050...

You're insinuated the planet is going to be in bad shape in 2050...It won't be.

Honestly Tano, I don't know who convinced you that humans do not have any adverse effects on the climate, but the general consensus from the scientific community is that the increase in greenhouse gases and the changing climate over the last 50 years is attributed to human causes.

What is the general consensus? Pulling facts out of your arse are we? There are as many scientists for as there are against global warming.

No...

That's a clever thing to say. What a fatuous remark. Would you prefer if I outed your opinion?

I agree with it. Who cares what happens in the next 50+ years, If you're scared of "being killed because of global warming" why not get a head start and leave now? :S

You're not concerned about future generations, i.e your own children?

Let's say the Earth will be in bad shape in 50 years time. Personally, it wouldn't bother me because I would probably be on my death bed, however I at least want my family living comfortably.
Good old mother Earth has been spewing out Carbon-Farts since she was born, in the total time that Humanity has been around doing the same, lets say with the invention of man-made fire, which is predicted at some thing around 750,000 - 1,000,000 years ago. we havent even made 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000(you should get the picture now)0000001% of what the planet has, so if "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" as they call it now were true, then the world would have been skrewed a long, long time ago (before the first signs of life emerged kind of long time), but most people seem to be too stupid, naive, or gullabul to open their eyes, take a good look at the facts, and see that the governments of the world each have a truckfull of cattle, and they are spoon feeding eveyone bullshit.

Your maths is ridiculously wrong, and I don't know whose ass you pulled it out of. The yearly increase of CO2 relative to itself is 2.6%, and relative to the entire atmosphere, it is 0.038%.

I'm on "your side", but I don't like your lack of factual basis.

Force them to wear snow clothing all year round. Global warming feel like nothing to them
Looks like the most appropriate thread...

The coalition won by a landslide in NSW www.smh.com.au/... in yesterdays state election. No surprise.

Labor were paying $15 to win last week. [MOG]

Yeah, but that's not why I posted that :P

It's hard not to get stuck on the stupidity. :P
Only listened to under 4 mins so far (will listen to more later) but I'm surprised how much (so far) Bolt has let Flannery speak. :E

:P

I listened to it more. Bolt is a real shame. He could be a respected journalist but he chooses to be a shock jock... :*O

He writes for the Herald Sun. What do you expect? :P
10% of this tax goes to the UN... it is all UN agenda..

If the world was really serious about this 'we' would end deforestation by imposing serious sanctions on the countries that are allowing it..
well how about all this arguing about "facts" from people and what people have said. well apparently we were going to run out of petrol in 20 years 20 years ago (i know we will eventually) and house prices were supposed to stop rising in Australia every week for the past 3 years i may also sound ignorant but really what are we going to do in this world i can make a insignificant difference but i mean really until big business changes there is not much point in any of us changing our ways. etc. if they bought out nothing but electric cars we wouldn't have a choice but to buy one.... but who we kidding electric cars create more damage to the environment by making them. solution to everyone ones problem would be some kind of nuclear battery that never ran out of charge but big business wouldn't let that happen either so we rooted.

Plenty of other countries that will have you.

I still think they should change it to the 'carbon dioxide' tax.
