I can't quite make out what it is...
So I guess that says that no matter how close people get to him, no-one quite understands what he's about.
Reminds me of a quote I saw the other day. Not one of my favourites, but here it is nonetheless:

I seriously pressed my eyeball right up against the screen and still couldn't comprehend that pic. I must be tired... How could I not see him...
I was trying to make sense of the background (the flames), thinking that was the foreground and so the shape made no sense.

To continue the metaphor...
Sometimes, people try so hard to understand him that they miss what's right in front of their eyes. But if you stop and listen for a moment to what the Morgie has to say, it all makes perfect sense!
