Recently whenever I wake up my back has been really stiff and whenever Intry to move it send a shock of pain up my sigh. I try to stay away from medication and a chiropractor is to expensive. Any suggestions would help.
I wouldn't take any serious advice from anyone here as none of us (as far as I know) are doctors.

That said, go see your GP at the very least. If it's muscle soreness, I'd imagine that some stretches and exercises will sort it out. If it's a spinal issue, then you may have a bit more of a problem.

The spinal problems run in the family I was screwed from the beginning
I've heard that strong back muscles can straighten out the spine and fix posture, but it's only broscience as far as I know.
I will just talk to the doctor next time I go in I will suffer through it until then
I recently replaced my computer chair with an exercise ball. My balance and posture have improved and my neck pains have pretty much cleared up. Don't know if it will fix your back pains, but it's worth a shot (and it's fun!) . :P

Medication won't do any good anyway. What about other types of practitioners? Physiotherapists and osteopaths can also help those types of problems. Even going to a qualified massage therapist could help, make sure it's remedial massage though, not just relaxation massage. Other than that you've probably heard it all before: sit with good posture, have your computer set up ergonomically (feet flat on floor, arms comfortably resting on keyboard, monitor at eye height - using laptops on your lap is really bad). Take regular breaks if you use the computer for long periods of time, stretch etc.

I'm no doctor but im guessing if you have pain shooting up your side it's probably that you're pinching a nerve somehow, definitely something you should get checked out.

My chair thats infront of my gaming unit that also houses my PC is a one seat sofa chair and have a little fold out table infront for my keyboard n mouse, Maybe time for a new one..Like a lazyboy [Derp]

Needs to go get me one of them deep tissue asian long time happy ending massages =D
Stretches, core strengthening, weights based ab workout, chiro. I used to sore back from sleeping and job(painter) and since doin that it's rarely a issue. I go to chiro every 5-7 weeks. Swim, run and climb lots of stair cases they all strengthen ur back
