So horrible. These things happen all the time though but for 10 people to be killed and 20 wounded is really bad.
Apparently a girl as young as 6 is a victim of the shooting.
US... guns... nothing out of the ordinary here.

I heard there was a baby? (what was a baby doing at a midnight screening of batman?)

Not sure, but it's holidays over there, so I guess families headed out for the premiere.
Unbelivable you have to think, after reading that they were wearing body armour and gas masks, half the crowd at a midnight screening probably thought it was publicity related before they knew what was really going on.

This only had to happen once in Auatralia for our already strict gun laws to tighten even more. US really need to stop ****ing around and protect their everyday citizens.

Can only hope the majority of the injured are going to be ok, and all the sympathies to those who have alreay passed.
Problem with the US is there is so many people who want to carry a gun to 'protect themselves'. So the US government has to grant them with these bullshit 'rights' - otherwise they obviously get voted out.

Out of the many stories like this that surface though, you never hear someone in the crowd pulling a pistol out of their handbag and returning fire. So it seems pointless to let 'the people' have guns, when all it does is enable gutless cowards like this access to them (no matter if it is illegal, it is the attitude to guns in the US, and their comparative availability, that allows this).

I don't understand why America accepts the possibility of this situation, surely Columbine would have changed things. There is the South which is obviously pro-gun, but the rest of America seemingly has no say or is too lazy to go vote.

E: Aurora is right next to Littleton, where Columbine happened. Crazy.
That's Horrible what the hell goes through these peoples head!!!!

Absolutely terrible news, innocent people just going to the movies and have this happen is shocking.

How could people do this?

Some people have no respect at all for the human life.
just heard about it that is only about an 8 hour drive from where i live :E

The main problem is that people want to have guns to protect themselves but they wouldnt need to protect themselves if we didnt have them in the first place
That's terrible. I can't imagine what goes through these people's minds. I'm saddened for the losses. :(
he shot a baby... i cant think of anything worse..
I know that possession is easy, but what are the laws in regards to carrying it on your person?

092745 will know more, but I think you can get an 'on-person permit' or something to that effect.
Why they target that place or is it just some random terror attack.

U can buy a gun in the US legally with gun registration, police checks n etc but the majority of the gun crimes a done by stolen guns that's the problem same thing in Australia the majority of gun related crimes are from stolen or illegal guns.
Shit, WTF is wrong with people. :(
It's pretty absolutely disgusting and horrible what has happened. As someone mentioned above it would of just looked like someone in costume before the shooting because of all the premiere stuff going on.

With the shooter wearing a gasmask and all I can't help but to wonder if his insanity had something to do with the Batman movies.

Here is an update, seems he used a smoke bomb in the cinema right before the shooting.

Police estimate 50 people are injured - youngest receiving medical treatment is a six-year-old
10 victims died at the cinema and five at nearby hospitals
A 6ft tall man, thought to be aged 24, dressed in black and wearing a gas mask opened fire in a mall in Aurora, Colorado
Fired indiscriminately at audience with a rifle and two handguns after setting off a smoke bomb 30 minutes into the screening
Man with two firearms, was arrested in a car park nearby and told the police that explosives were stored at his home
Apartment block in the north of Aurora has been evacuated
Confusion as witnesses thought shooting was part of the film
FBI are working with the local police and there is no terrorism link so far

To me this sounds like a act of terrorism but they are afraid to call it a terrorist attack right now because it could create panic to the public.

Think you've watched too many hollywood movies.
Oh 4Chan, :P

it sucks for what happened as no one should go through something like that especially the enjoyment of going to go to the cinemas and watch a movie..just not right, my condolences go out to the families who have lost lives due to this or even for those who have been injured or even traumatized.

but i still think the joker must be behind all of this! [Shifty]
one of those crazy spiderman fans. [Rage]
