This is all subject to future projects from game developers and, availability of 3D capable TV's that will support this feature.

Sony revealed that they will be rolling out a new line of 3D-related products including a new series of TV's and Blu-ray players by the end of March 2011.

3D Gaming for PS3 in Firmware Update Comments

Avatar has 3D gaming!?! Shouldn't this firmware already be implemented for it? Unless it's in the game install of the game instead?!

Anyhoo, this would be cool...except the part where you need a 3D capable tv...not exactly optional for many at this stage.
I've played Avatar 3D on the 360. Twas fun.
I wonder if my TV is 3D capable? Will it only be Sony TVs that will be 3D enabled or does it just have to have a certain feature or something?
Any brand, mate.

3D Capabilities - Stereoscopic video games

According to Luc Duchaine, the game's senior international brand manager, the game will require a HDMI output and a 120Hz capable set in order to avail of 3D effects. In a Nintendo Power interview, it was stated that the Wii version will use Ubisoft's Jade engine. The release of the PC demo has confirmed the PC version of the game supports 3D capabilities as well.

Couldn't see myself reaching for 3D glasses every time I wanted to watch the box or play a game. no thanks!
so with a 3d capable tv does this mean you wont require those goggles to get the 3d effects? cause otherwise if you needed goggles i would have thought any tv could really be capable
Yes, you certainly do need the glasses...fortunately I have a pair that I accidentally nicked from eGames.
Should make it Goggles that the strap goes around your head so it doesn't come off or anything. Kind of like Snow goggles

LOL! "accidentally" nicked. I can't wait for 3D games etc and if I have to buy a new TV then damnit I will.
Cross game chat? would like that to be announced or official, 3D gaming sounds alright though
How bout some 3D 'educational' blurays instead I have a feeling 3D games will make me sick, especially Wipeout
Meh...
