Dead Island PC Is Not A Port

by Stephen Heller Featured 13 Comments 18 Votes 8208 Views 02/08/2011 Back to News

We recently had the chance to meet some of the team behind Dead Island and spend an hour with the game on the PlayStation 3. While the game was fantastic, we managed to get some info on the PC version.

When commenting on the graphics engine one member of the team said "you should see this on the PC, it looks amazing".

That tidbit of information wasn't enough so I asked the team member if the PC version was a port or a standalone release. He stated that the team started two versions right alongside each other - the PC and the console version.

Good news for PC gamers who are craving a zombie vacation. Check out our Dead Island Hands-On Preview to get a taste of what you're in for.

will the PC version have gamepad support?

Most likely.

I'm really glad they're not just porting this to PC, it shows me that these guys really mean business.
think it may be time to try out my HDMI output on my new PC with my TV

dumb question, I don't have a wired 360 controller but I have a wireless one with the battery pack and charging cable, can that work as a wired solution with a PC? does that cable push data as well as power?
I was already wanting this on PC but after hearing that straight from the horses mouth I'm definitely sold.
It won't concern me at all, as my PC is pretty much just for por-uh communicating with friends via IM ;O

Nevertheless, it's good to hear it's not a port. PC gamers don;t need bastardized version of what I buy.
This should definitely please PC gamers.

That's what she said.

AWOOOPPPPP
Everyone says this nowadays, and has pretty much always said it.

"PC is the lead platform!" "PC will get special attention!" "We're a PC developer."

As always, I remain cautiously optimistic.
Good news and I look forward to them keeping their word. Hopefully they added good multi-screen support. That's usually the giveaway if it was designed for PC.
I wonder if there is a sales chart for PC games sold ? You always see it for Console games but never for PC games.

Even though the there would be way more PC's in the world I reckon games would always sell better on Consoles manly becuase of piracy.
I also have a wireless 360 cable. you'll need to get a wireless usb 360 controller gamepad receiver. www.amazon.com/...
