E3 2009: Final Fantasy XIV Online coming to PS3 and PC

During their E3 2009 keynote, Sony announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be coming exclusively to PS3 and PC sometime in 2010.

A small trailer was shown, although no gameplay was in the trailer. The response to the announcement was one of amazement, as the audience at the keynote didn't quite know how to react to it.

No further information was given besides its name and release window...of the entire year of 2010.

no pc. they said you can only get it on ps3. and i can't wait until this comes out! it looks like it will take on the same world style as FF12 though. which is my favorite by far! i love it when Sony and Square make love children. They always turn out perfect.

Several sources are saying it's available on PC so I went with it. There are announcements and revelations after the keynotes typically, so this may have been confirmed via a stat sheet or something given out to press.

i won't.

i will get ps3 version in hopes of there being a way to transfer my ff12 data for some goodies.

for those of you wondering, the trailer takes place in world that resembles the world of FF12's Ivalace. Bangaas for the win!

Wow this is a rather large surprise, its a shame that its an MMO-RPG i suppose i'll finally have to dish out the extra cash for a high speed internet connection lol. 2010 is looking like a great year.

yes but that one had it's own world to roam around in and from the sounds of things, not too many people like it. Hopefully they will improve on what they know works and what does not work.

omg really! if i wanted to hear a fanboy of the 360 try to wreck this then i would have gone on my360. to clarify this for everyone! this is only going to happen on the PS3. The 360 could never pull something off with this much content and detail into it. that's why the 360 could never hope to run MGS4 without having to change disks every 15 minutes.

the PC could handle this because you could download the game straight from the disks onto your computer, but the people over at Square have confirmed this is only for PS3. if they were making for the pc as well then what would be the point in making it for PS3?

when have Microsoft ever even hinted at a new Xbox? they just made an entire new update announcement and software for the 360 which they obviously plan to keep for a long time. a new 360 probably will not be mentioned until E3 '12 or maybe even later.

Sorry dude, but even the main FFXIV homepage says it's coming to Windows ( na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ ). They said that it will be console exclusive to the PS3, meaning the only console to get the game will be the PS3.

The Final Fantasy XI MMO was released on the PS2, 360, and PC, so it's not that strange they've decided to go multi-platform with this MMO too.

ah. that's very sneaky Sony. i count the PC as a standard console of gaming as well, i think next time they need to say Ps3 and Pc if they announce something that big.

So in other words it's pretty much a timed PS3 release.

So much for the bombshell.

Agent was more of a bombshell announcement than a FF MMO imo.
