FW 2.30 & Store Update Next Week

Firmware 2.30 will be released along with the PS Store Update On The 15th April

Firmware 2.30

The only features announced for 2.30 other than the Store Update are….

DTS-HD Master Audio & DTS-HD High Resolution Audio output for Blu-ray videos.

For more info on DTS-HD Master Audio & DTS-HD High Resolution Audio check out www.dts.com/

Other features maybe included in 2.30 such as the long awaited HOME as www.ps3fanboy.com/ are reporting that its available for download “via some proxy server shenanigans“.

While only a rumour/prediction if true anyone looking forward to HOME might be in for a surprise.

Below is a video demo of the revamped PS Store.

From the video it doesn’t sound like there will be any new content on the Store when the update is applied but normal Thursday updates will continue starting the 17th April. Lets hope theres some new games.

Good bit of news there chee5e! But a revamped online store and The Sims (Home) isnt exciting me. I dont know what Sony has done wrong this generation but my PS3 just gathers dust...

Has anyone heard yet if we will get the same release dates on games/dlc/add-ons etc, its really annoying that theres content on the US store that takes 6 months to make it to the Aus store.

dude its an all-in-one home entertainment unit! apart from the games u can play all sorts of video files, either straight from any sort of memory card or usb stick or from the hard drive or even streamed from a media server. you can use it instead of a dvd/bluray player, stereo system, etc. can use it for photos, slideshows, basic web browsing.....geez

i don't know what they've done wrong either

but on this topic, i agree a revamped store is a waste of time. so maybe Sony are 99-1

It's about time Sony get serious with the PSN ok the new look and stuff will be good but seriously its about time they launched software on their store... Still no virtual bowling on the launch.. GET SERIOUS SONY you promised us Virtual bowling a week after Pain was launch.. I agree my PS3 is gathering dust to... GET (insert swear word here) SONY..

how can anyone's ps3's be gathering dust though? it doesn't quite make sense to me, why would anyone pay $1000 just for a games console? surely you chose ps3 over other consoles because it can do other things?!?! maybe it's just because i've never had anything handed to me i know the value of a dollar but i certainly wouldnt let $1000 worth of machinery gather dust...

edit - i guess the 40g's are a fair bit cheaper, but if your dvd player breaks down or something it's good to have

I don't really care about the aesthetics of the Store update, just hearing her say it will be faster at the end of the video makes it worth while, cheers for the news!

EDIT: With the inclusion of DTS-HD; will we hear any significant change with audio? Or do you need high-end or similar speakers to notice a real difference?

Don't get your hopes up - everyone rekons home will be out in 2.40, not in this week's 2.30...

though there is no evidence either way... :/
