Sony's recent acquisition of cloud-based gaming service Gaikai isn't only to improve the next PlayStation. It wants to use the technology in its other, non-gaming products.
Sony Computer Entertainment boss, Andrew House, told The Wall Street Journal that Sony intends to use the technology in products beyond the PlayStation range.
"It’s recognition on Sony’s part that the cloud and cloud streaming technologies are going to have profound and possibly a very positive impact on not only our game business, but also in the way our consumers interact with and obtain content in general," said House.
Sony's range of televisions, computers, tablets, phones and existing music and video streaming services could all benefit from the acquisition.
