Is the PS3 about to get even slimmer?

Internet snooping speculates that Sony is set to release an even slimmer version of the PlayStation 3.

According to a Federal Communications Commission filing in the US, Sony is preparing to launch the CECH-4000A and CECH-4000B versions of the PS3. The current range uses the model number CECH-3000; signifying the beginning of the 4000 series.

That means that the console is being revised internally and/or externally.

While there is already a slim PS3, it isn't actually that small, especially compared to the tiny -- and cheaper -- version of the PS2.

Is the PS3 about to shed some weight?

I have a PS3 Slim and an original 360 and they're the same size [Shifty]

Although, the "slim" 360 isn't really any smaller either.

iPhone 4S isn't the same stuff, it's a significant internal hardware update. That's the same as saying the Galaxy SIII is the same stuff but small extra features in comparison to the Galaxy SII

Yes but atleast it doesnt look the same ;)

One thing I like about stuff like this is it makes the older product cheaper :D

a newer model that's quieter would be nice.

as long as they don't go taking out more features then i'm okay with that. It'd be nice if they'd update the wireless connection.
maybe people could finally stream higher bitrate stuff.

Maybe they might add the PlayTV box internally into the PS3? Something to do with the cloud? Maybe more USB ports? Maybe anything! Who knows....
