JB to openly sell parallel imports

JB has revealed that it will begin selling parallel imports of Pal games at a discounted price.

Kotaku reports that unlike GameTraders, EB and GAME, which have all sold UK stock in the past to get games early or as pre-owned copies, JB will be honest about the imported copies.

They'll be sold as imports as a reduced cost. As an Australian classification sticker must be included to display them at retail, the only difference between the parallel imports and Australian stock will be the price.

An imported copy of Super Mario 3D Land, for example, is only $44, compared to $59 for an Australian version.

It's a national incentive, and should arrive in your local store shortly, if it's not already there.

They should do this with movies to as We don't always get all the movies over here. I've noticed a few on Blu Ray that are out in PAL regions but not here.

Agreed. Although it wouldn't be a cost-effective profit for them because blurays and dvds are the same price in every country, and the fact they have to import puts prices up... there is no point, it won't be any cheaper then someone buying it off Amazon.

I feel that this may be the beginning of something great. I would appear that JB (being one of the biggest game retailers in Australia) are trying to force local suppliers to match parity to overseas prices. I think this strategy will work. The days of price gauging us aussies for games may be coming to a close. Hear that local suppliers !! You've made hay while the sunshines, but your greed has eventually turned around & bitten you on your royal behind !! Mwa ha ha ha !!

No, you can't trade in import stock UNLESS it has our ratings logo, and even then it has to be PAL. We ARE selling parallell imports, but they all have our logo.

Eb are going to do this as well, another reason for it they are sick and tired of other companies being able to release the games 2-4 days earlier. Using the import games as soon as they get them in they can sell them.

Now they are all seeming to jump on board the law will be changed probably and you wont get your 7 day return if you buy import copy. Trade in value will drop as well. So this will be intesting to see what happens.
