Metal Gear movie announced by Columbia

Columbia Pictures has announced that a Metal Gear movie based on the video game series will be made in association with Konami, produced by Avi Arad.

"For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters - and video games are the comics of today," Arad said when the announcement was made at Metal Gear 25th Anniversary event, reports IGN.

No further details have been revealed.

The Punisher with Tom Jane as Frank Castle, not War Zone and not the one with Dolph Lundgren.

I prefer War Zone to the Jane's Punisher. Neither is great though.

This is the same Metal Gear story when Snake mission is to Outer Haven, rescue Grey Fox, destroy Metal Gear and finds out his FOXHOUND commander Big Boss was the Outer Haven leader. Yeah we know what's going to happen.

War zone was more like the punisher though...

I mean those movies he produced could have been good. I think he's not getting the right people to do the jobs perhaps because it does come down to director's vision and the writers they budget for..

I wonder if Metal gear will be a let down considering how interwoven and convoluted the stories can be. There's definitely gotta be a balance between all out Metal gear assaults and stealth box love ;)

Producer holds all the power in big Hollywood productions. Having the right director and writer would have improved things, but it is the producer that hires them. And on productions of this size, of course they have money for the big guys.
