Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition to be in Limited Supply

Activison must be crazy, a limited edition that is actually limited? Never! The publisher has confirmed that is exactly what they want to do with the Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when it is released later this year.

In recent times it has been easier to find a collector's edition, rather than the standard release, of a AAA title on the shelf at your local EB (I'm looking at you Halo 3). However, if you want all of the bonus goodies with Modern Warfare 2 you're going to have to pre-order it or get in quick.

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling told IGN that you won't easily find the Prestige Edition on store shelves a few months after the game's release.

"It was important to us that this be a true collectors' edition and as such, we do one run, and it's finished. The Prestige Edition is NOT something you're going to be seeing on the cheap 2 months after launch," said Bowling. "We decided from the beginning that we want this to be for the hardcore fans and early adopters. The fact that it is actually limited is one of the coolest parts, which is why we've individually numbered every copy." Unfortunately he did not confirm how many units would be produced.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on November 10.

it all depends on how many pre-orders they get, i'm sure if they said ok we are only going to make 50 thosand copies and got pre-orders for 100 thosand i'm sure they will bring out more, works both ways if they only got pre-orders for say 20 thosand they probebly stick to how many they originally made, they bring out these prestige editions to make more money, so if everyone wanted one and pre-ordered it, i'd bet you would get one.

I heard the same thing but I find it really hard to believe, considering how many EB Games, JB Hi-Fis and GAME shops there are in the country, not to mention online retailers, all taking pre-orders

me 2 yeah. Im not buying prestige edition just for its NVG and artbook the real reason i pre-order my prestige edition because i want too make my friends jealous, show my support of the CoD franchise, looks good in my room, its limited, im no cheap skate aussie who complains, it will be in my collection shelves with my other collection edition games as, display it like a trophy, I like to spend a little more for games and it shows how such a CoD: MW2 fan i am. If i was a millionaire i would buy everyone in myps3 a prestige edition (Take that Oprah).

Hmm why is everyone thinking its stupid to pay so much for the NVGs, and saying that we will never use it..
I already know I'm not going to use them, i might wear them a couple times and that's about it..But I ain't buying the prestige edition just for that.. I'm paying it because it love the COD series.And love just to own it, plus I get limited edition NVGs with it, so as i see it, Its win win for me

Think of it like this, the game is going to cost $120 RRP, so why not pay like another $80 and get all the extras?
