PSN accounts will soon become 'Sony Entertainment Network' accounts as Sony look to converge their digital services.

Sony is looking to phase out the Qriocity brand and want to remove the term "PlayStation Network" from user accounts so they can be used across multiple services.

The change will take place on February 8, but is nothing more than a new name.

The PlayStation Network will remain as is, and functionality will not be altered.

"The goal is for there to be one networked log-in for all Sony services," a Sony spokesperson told Joystiq.

"Changing the name 'PlayStation Network account' to 'Sony Entertainment Network account' helps clarify the unity between PSN and other Sony Entertainment Network services."

I quite like the PSN logo, shame it won't be kept but I have no qualms with the new SEN logo. still saying Sony Entertainment network is still a mouthful but whatever, the e is need just like it was in the NES/SNES or else we would just have something like PNIS.

I think they should call the overall network SEN but keep the Playstation section called the Playstation Network. It's got a nice ring to it, better than both XBL and TNN. [WTF]
