Speaking to Japanese gaming mag Famitsu 360 (thanks to PS3Center.net), SEGA has stated that the much loved Shenmue franchise is something the publishers thinks about often. Naww, how cute!
SEGA said it was still something they considered doing, but sales were considered a major factor in any decision to make a new title.
"Neither of the previous games sold well, so Sega is hesitant about returning to the franchise. They reassure fans, though, that if there is an opportunity to revisit the franchise, they would love to do it."
Furthermore, SEGA stated that a new game would need to be funded by a major platform holder, meaning it might be exclusive to either 360 or PS3 (or, eeek, Wii) if it ever does get made.
