EA's Syndicate reboot that was too hardcore for Australian's sensitive eyes wasn't the commercial success the company was hoping for.

EA president Frank Gibeau spoke about the reboot with CVG recently.

Syndicate was something that we took a risk on. It didn't pay off – it didn't work. But in general it doesn't change my appetite for wanting to go look in the library and see what we have and maybe bring back some IPs for the next-generation. That's the nature of the business; some stuff works, some stuff doesn't." - Frank Gibeau, EA

EA's other reboot has done rather well however. SSX has been a "very successful launch fo us," according to Gibeau. "It's done well and you'll probably see more in the future".

So if you managed to get an import copy of Syndicate and you enjoyed it, we wouldn't hold your breath for a sequel anytime soon.

Coz it was another FPS if it had played like the original and you could unlock and upgrade guns and cyborgs with a mouse to play it then i,d be out to buy it now

it got rejected, you can easily import it though. I quite enjoyed it so its a shame it didn't sell too well

It's really hard to launch new IPs in today's industry when majority of FPS's fans either like Call of Duty, Battlefield or Halo and never step out of their comfort zones. It's a shame.

That's not to say Syndicate is 'new'. I know it is a reboot.

I think the game would have worked better as a third person game this would appeal to the console controls and pc.

I think people would love a newly updated version of the originals but probably would only really gain acceptance on the pc.

Many just saw it as another generic fps. It's a shame because the franchise deserved better.
