- Worms creator Andy Davidson returns to Team 17
- 14 years MIA from the gaming industry
- Offering support for new Worms game, working on new ideas
Get ready for a history lesson kiddies. Back in 1993, Team 17 and Andy Davidson released an Artillery-style game named Worms to the masses, and it gained a cult following. The game was created by Davidson, which originally featured Lemmings sprites, before he changed them into Worms and released the game commercially.
Davidson left Team 17 and the gaming industry 14 years ago, walking off into the sunset, and becoming some kind of zen-loving hermit in the Himalaya mountains.
Okay, so we made that last part up, but Davidson has returned to Team 17, just in time to work on the recently announced Worms Revolution. The official statement from Team 17 is that Davidson will "offer the Worms Revolution developers his support", so he's not the project lead or anything.
Interestingly enough however, they stated that Davidson is working on "a variety of new game ideas."
You might have made Worms with gun Davidson, but have you ever considered Cows with Guns?
