'I've seen PS4, Xbox 720' - EA Labels boss

EA Labels president Frank Gibeau says he has seen the next generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft, currently refereed to as the PlayStation 4 (Orbis) and Xbox 720.

Gibeau mentioned having seen the yet to be announced consoles during a Gamescom keynote this week, while discussing the changing landscape of the videogames industry.

"I've seen both of them," are the exact words he teased in reference to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720.

Both Sony and Microsoft have been fairly tight lipped about the next generation, but several rumours over the past month suggest the Xbox 720 will be available by the end of 2013.

I can't see the point of him doing this.
It's not gonna bring them out any sooner.
If he has "seen them both" as he claims, then big whoop for you buddy.
Sony & Microsoft will release them when they are good and ready.

I think he means seen what it's capable of. Obviously the final design wouldn't be done yet.

What would be more interesting is if he had said, "We're developing this game for the next ps4, xbox 720 (whatever it'll be called) and will be released at the end of next year"

I honestly don't care if he's seen what it's capable of. Is he trying to brag?

I doubt he'd enjoy it if Sony or Microsoft went out of their way to tell the public that EA was working on an unannounced title.

I think if the WiiU shows them anything, it's that 18 months is way way too early to announce. Who gives a stuff about the WiiU now? 2 months from release and I never see any hype or discussion, there's the occasional marketing material that gets people excited, but imo it has lost it's footing. I'd be happier if they announced <6 months before release.

And he probably means the framework dev kits. Not the consoles themselves.

Or he might mean the design, with no actual working framework inside. Just a basic mockup.

Either way the guy has no reason to lie so why would he?
