It seems Playstation Vita is slowly going off the radar in the land of the rising sun. Studies of Sony's sales across Japan have revealed that only approximately 800,000 PS Vita's have been sold over the past six months, which is stunningly low.
Sony replied to Famitsu magazine, responsible for the data, stating that "the sales data is in line with internal projections", according to a translation of the quote by local media.
Looking back, in March Sony revealed it had sold about 2 million PS Vita units worldwide. In comparison, although the Nintendo 3DS was released slightly earlier, it had sold about 17 million units by the same period.
At any rate, Sony is currently not doing well with their newest handheld. The amount of games coming out for the PS Vita is still very sparse. However, rest be assured, Sony has not had its last word yet. August will see new PS vita releases, and certainly more titles will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show in September.
