Medal of Honor: Warfighter's sales estimates have hit Electronic Arts' share price, which fell following comments from Cowen analyst Doug Creutz about the game's disappointing level of interest from consumers.
Creutz initially projected sales of 2.3 million units for the sequel to 2010's Medal of Honor, but has since reduced that figure to 1.4 million across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
His reasoning? Amazon's top-selling game rankings, which place Warfighter well below other blockbuster games set for release later this year.
“We think the most likely culprit for apparent gamer disinterest is the poor quality of the last ‘Medal of Honor’ game in 2010," said Mr Creutz.
Earlier this month EA announced pre-order incentives for Warfighter, encouraging gamers to buy the game ahead of release to secure a place in the Battlefield 4 beta in late-2013.
