PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale developer splits from Sony

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale developer SuperBot Entertainment and Sony have broken up.

A Sony rep told Kotaku that the split ended "amicably" -- but we've all heard that one before.

"We have had a positive working relationship with this talented studio, and wish them the best of success in their next endeavor. PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale and the title's forthcoming DLC releases will continue to be fully supported by Santa Monica Studio," added the Sony spokesperson.

SuperBot operations boss David Yang thanked Sony, but suggested layoffs are likely as the developer moves on to new projects.

It's unknown what those projects will be.

Really sucks for SuperBot. It's kind of weird how there was very little marketing for the game that was supposed to represent, embody and mash all of Sony's greatest in one.
Agreed.

I thought they would have really pushed this hard. I would have loved a CE or at least a SE with the choice of locked character or new design...

Alas we got nothing.
It's a darn shame. It's three studios now we've got cut ties off by Sony when they never really had a chance with not much marketing.
Indeed.

I really like this game as well. They really could have done a lot with DLC and such.
