Western Australia stalls R18+ classification

Western Australia has delayed its acceptance of the introduction of an R18+ classification for video games.

The ACT and NSW have already passed the legislation to introduce the new classification guidelines on January 1, 2013.

However, it didn't move through parliament as swiftly in Western Australia this week. Instead of passing the laws, the state government sent an amendment to a committee consisting of two Liberal MPs, a Greens MP and a Labor MP for further investigation.

The public can make submissions ahead of the report on November 6.

That leaves Western Australia with a tight decline before the end of December to get any amendments approved and the legislation passed.

Ned Flanders Strikes again.
what the hell is wrong with this country?

This will actually give those violent games a proper rating and keep children away from playing those really violent type of games.

It's the whole Victorian Underbelly thing all over again.

people from WA will just get someone to send it to them.

No it won't. Just like kids get smokes and alcohol. They'll get an older brother or cousin to get it for them.
Heck they just got sunday trading a few months back so we know there behind the times

WA should become it's own country [MOG]
Im pretty sure its not illegal to own 18+ games, just to sell them.

However in WA it is illegal to own 18+ games.

No surprises that they will attempt to block it.

It nearly did in 1933 the state of WA had a referendum to be a independent country. The referendum failed but if it did past Australia will not allow it because Australia will be broke without WA.

They're not blocking it, they're just making it more difficult than it needs to be.
