Yoshida confirms SOCOM isn't dead just yet

In a recent interview with PlayStation: The Official Magazine, SCE head Shuhei Yoshida stated that while there are no current plans for a future instalment to the SOCOM franchise, "it's not done."

"We never definitely retire any franchise. It’s sometimes great to have a fresh look at the classics that we have"

“We are launching a new Sly Cooper game this year after so many years. Never say never. I feel sorry for people who are longtime SOCOM fans, and there are many people who still play SOCOM 1 and SOCOM 2, especially those seem to be their favorites."

What do you think of Yoshida's words? A clever tactic or will we be seeing another addition to the series in the next generation?

SOCOM was great on PSP. Awesome fun. Hasn't been relevant with the PS3 though.

A sequel to the online only SOCOM: Confrontation will be great. I remember back in the PS2 dayz when u have a headset to give orders to ur AI team, back
then it was awesome and convenient. Also the 1st SOCOM (PS2) game back in 2003 was my 1st Playstation game to play online.

The previous SOCOM wasn't good IMO they tried to target the new, casual gamers and add some dynamic story. It was better back when in PS2 SOCOM you can choose ur way to engage the mission, more freedom. My favourite part was subdue/arrest any enemies while not killing a single person and this was before in game trophies so I made my own challenges back then.

SOCOM: Confrontion was really good despite all the small bugs and glitches the gameplay was solid and overall was one of the best team orientated games I've ever played.

SOCOM 4 was a very different experience overall.

Socom 1 or 2 HD remake would be sick, played all socom games and although confrontation had so many bugs it was still a better experience then spec forces

Now that will be awesome a HD remake of 1,2 and 3 or maybe add Combined Assault with online support if possible.
