The best game to download from the PSN store

Those who visit the PSN store on a regular basis will notice a variety of incredibly addictive arcade style games, such as time consuming retro classics like flOw & Super Rub-a-Dub, these games are great fun and pretty good value, but then you see Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection sitting in the demo section with a tasty price tag of $16.95, all of a sudden, those arcade games i mentioned earlier are at the back of your mind and your main focus becomes Tekken DR and downloading the bargain beast, and download you will

However you do have to ponder the questions, is this deal to good to be true? Why is it so cheap? Why is it only about 500 mb to download? Well, first things first, dont go expecting a fully fleshed out game here, because Tekken DR is probably to be fair, half a game, but its the good half. Soon as you load it up you will notice the visuals have been beefed up in glorious High Definition & damn do you notice the slickness of it on a High Def TV, the visuals are table top smooth, but dont go expecting a full PS3 power fest or a stunner like VF5 because after all this is pretty much a PS2 port with slightly smoother graphics, this game was not really made to be a PS3 game, so leave your expectations at the door.

When you look at the entire picture here, not much was taken out, whats missing here is a couple of modes like practice, survival, time attack and theatre. But what we do have available is more than fair game. Arcade is great fun battling through, but you probably wont find yourself playing it as much as the ghost mode, which pits your fighter against random opponents with different rankings and so forth. The best part about this mode is with every fight you win you earn points which allows you to purchase items for your characters appearance such as clothes and colour variations as well as gallery pictures and unlockable movie sequences. So if you want to see Lili in a gothic appearance than be prepared to win some fights to earn that black clothing and goth make up for her. The other mode we have is the versus mode which of course, allows you to fight against a mate and admittedly can be even more fun than what the ghost mode has on offer.

The last few additions that some of us would be new too *If you never played the PSP version* are the inclusion of 4 new characters (Lili, Armour King, Dragunov & Jimpachi) as well as an abundance of new arenas to brawl in. These additions are all great and are more than worthy of the $16.95 *or around there* that you pay for.

Overall, it comes down to value and quality, and we all know Tekken always delivers and more, and it sure does deliver here. When you first load up the download to notice 30+ fighters at the character select screen, new arenas, spectacular new moves, and fun modes all wrapped in spruced up high def visuals, you will be no doubt more than delighted with the bargain price you paid for.

What's even better news is that Namco have recently announced an online patch which should be available to download pretty damn soon, which basically kills off the lack of modes debacle.

So its pretty simple really, if you want a great game or just a great bargain, then you really cant get any better than Tekken DR, not only is it still the best beat em up ever made but it provides a perfect stop gap until Tekken 6 arrives.
