Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 -
A Quick Review for if your on the fence about getting this years COD
A Informative Review For Call Of Duty Black Ops Two's Single player and Multiplayer !
We all know that one of the major AAA titles of this year is of course Call of duty black ops 2. As of most years the call of duty giant slowly grows stronger and stronger towering above other games making it near impossible for other games to so called be a "COD Killer". But is call of duty black ops 2 all its hyped up to be ?
Lets find out.
First of all I'll start with the story Black ops two's story drops you into the shoes of one David Mason the prior games protagonist Alex mason's son. The story jumps from date to date one part of the game taking the player back to the 1970's and the 1980's the other half taking place in the year "2025". In the 1970's and 1980's segment you play as the original games protagonist Alex Mason on return you return to the main protagonist for the second game David Mason. The main plot for this game is a futuristic cold war full of technology and other futuristic weaponry set in the year 2025. The whole time you interviewing your partner from the previous game Frank Woods who will guide you through the 1970's and 80's set missions as if he were retelling his own story. But the true plot to the game is the story of an international terrorist force called the "Cordis Die" who is lead by a ruthless leader know as Raul Menendez. Without giving to much away about the story Raul Menendez but what I can say is the way it all is built up around David and Alex Mason is some of the best I have seen in this franchise. The story will take you to different locations all through out the world giving an actual engaging story that makes you feel the difference between the age periods. Also a new mechanic newly added to the campaign is the ability to be able to create your own load out for every mission you go on. This is a neat touch and is very welcome but wether this is a way for treyarch to get more people in to the campaign feel or not is still up for debate. Also a new addition added to the games story is the addition of the strike force mode it is a strategic twist on the typical COD Formula personally I think it will appeal to strategic players but maybe not as much for the typical COD player. However all in all it is a nice addition to mix up the original formula of a stereotypical COD game.
Multiplayer we all know Multiplayer is what made the franchise what it is sporting some of the most critically acclaimed records of all time! But after all these years of Call Of Duty is the formula still what its made out to be ?
Well as the saying goes "If It Aint Broke Don’t' Fix It" Is truly in place here with this game yes the formula has changed in various ways but in a good and new way expanding the multiplayer in numerous ways more for the better then for worse. And yes with this I am happy to say Call Of Duty Black Op's 2's multiplayer component is worth your time. The multiplayer for Black Op's 2 is made now to appeal to a wider audience whether you are a Call Of Duty Veteran and you gunned and stabbed your way through them all or you are new to entry peeing your pants in fear of attack dogs or overpowered snipers. Black Op's two's multiplayer delivers on both these two both player types catering for all wether you’re a hardcore gamer or a 1 or 2 hours a day gamer there is plenty of fun to be had. For the hardcore gamers there is now league mode this will help match you up with either a similar skill level or for instance a clan of some kind this offers up a whole new level to the competiveness of the multiplayer. If your just a casual gamer the there is still the standard play list with your standard game modes with addition of a few new ones chucked in there such as Hardpoint which is a king of the hill type game mode where one team is to hold a certain area for a prolonged amount of time fan favourites also make a return such as Modern Warfare 3's Kill confirmed. Black op's two is really putting an emphasis' on the whole team play option to the game now longer will running around being a lone wolf like Rambo earn you the highest spot on the score bored or the highest kill streaks now instead protecting flags or capturing positions will earn you your steaks and XP faster Treyarch have really tried to make the idea of working together more appealing offering More XP and quicker kill streak's to players for pulling together. This lead's me on to Black Op's two's new "Score Streaks" other wise formerly known as kill streaks. Black Op's Two really brings the pain with its score streaks sporting old fan favourites like attack dogs , UAV's and Care Packages there all still there but with the future devastation of the new kill streaks such as AGR or the stealth helicopter. These are very powerful yes but harder to get like I mentioned previously but you'll need to pull together as a team to earn them and really work hard on the objective you can earn a UAV in 3 kills were as if you cap a flag you can earn a UAV of the bat. Some Call Of Duty players may be turned of by this feature but surely it is a welcome edition a long with a breath of fresh air to the franchise this feature may also be appealing to fans of other team based games such as Halo or Battlefield. But where would Call Of Duty be without guns. And yes Black Op's 2 brings the firepower with its array of guns ranging from classic crossbows and ballistic knifes to more modern weapons like the tar assault rifle. In Black Op's 2 there is something for everyone wether you like running and gunning or hanging out with a sniper black ops two has you covered for everyone. Now you don’t even need a gun with Black Op's two's pick ten system that allows you to pick up to six perks and just have a knife if you want to along with a grenade or two.
If you’re a true COD Veteran and your looking for the same game play you know and love or if your new to the franchise its all here everything you need but if your sick of the formula and you need a breath of fresh air maybe give this year's COD a miss. All in all for game play I give Call Of Duty : Black Op's Two a 7.5 / 10
